Installation details and completed work

The need
The urgent visit was requested because three bathroom outlets were not working. Two were GFCI receptacles. One had tripped and resumed operation after its reset button was pressed, while the second would not reset because its reset button was broken. The third bathroom receptacle was wired downstream from that failed GFCI, so it was also affected. During the panel check, one half of a two-pole breaker was found to have tripped. After it was reset, the lights initially worked but the breaker tripped again.
PTX's approach
The technician first went through the house with the tenant to identify the affected outlets. The failed GFCI was disconnected and removed, and a new GFCI was installed. PTX then checked the panel and followed the recurring breaker trip through the affected lighting circuit. A three-way switch was found with its ground making contact with one of the traveller wires. That switch was corrected, and the circuit was tested again. The panel was also checked for tight breaker screws and another breaker that was not the correct type for the panel was identified. The recorded recommendation was to replace the quad breaker so both circuits would trip together if one circuit caused the two-pole breaker to trip. On October 2, two breakers were disconnected and two new breakers were installed.
The recorded result
After the switch was corrected, the breaker stayed on while the switches and lights were checked. The bathroom receptacle downstream from the replaced GFCI was working properly. The job record then documents the removal and installation of two breakers on October 2, 2026. These are the recorded outcomes; the evidence does not state a broader panel replacement or provide a separate final certification.
What this job helps another property owner consider
When several outlets or lights stop working, the visible symptom may not identify the fault. In this West Vancouver example, the affected bathroom receptacles, a failed GFCI, a switch connection and breaker operation were checked together. A property owner considering panel upgrades can ask for the affected circuits and any recommended breaker changes to be identified clearly, along with what was corrected and what was tested.
