The need

The manager reviewed the situation with PTX Electric and identified an abandoned light switch nearby. Its position was not ideal for the intended electrical arrangement, so the switch needed to be moved to the side before the new receptacle could be installed.

PTX's approach

The team worked through the arrangement with the manager, moved the abandoned light switch to a better position and installed a 15A tamper-resistant Decora receptacle inside the junction box. The installation included a 1G Decora nylon cover plate and a round blank cover plate.

The recorded result

The new receptacle was powered up inside the junction box. The recorded work was completed on October 26, 2026, during an electrical service call in New Westminster.

What this job helps another property owner consider

When an electrical box contains an abandoned switch or another item that affects the available space, the existing arrangement may need to be addressed before a receptacle is installed. This job shows the value of reviewing the layout first, then choosing the work needed to create a better-positioned, powered receptacle.
