The need

The service request was for an emergency response and the provision and installation of a new outlet. The work involved adding a receptacle near an existing switch and receptacle arrangement.

PTX's approach

The team cut an easy box into the wall, removed the existing switch and cover plate, and attempted to fish a wire from the light-switch device box. A wood block a couple of inches down prevented that route without drywall damage to drill through it. The team instead fished a wire from the receptacle on the other side of the wall, installed a new easy box, receptacle and cover plate, and spliced the wires inside the other device box using a Wago lever connector. The existing receptacle, switch and cover plate were reinstalled, and the work area was cleaned up.
