The need
The customer reported that the microwave and the fan underneath it had stopped working and suspected an electrical issue. PTX assessed the microwave receptacle as part of the Burnaby Electrical service call. The available job record does not establish a separate diagnosis for the fan.
PTX's approach
PTX tested the microwave receptacle and found proper voltage. The microwave was plugged back in and still did not turn on. PTX then reset the breaker, tested the receptacle again and confirmed proper voltage remained. A meter photograph recorded 116.6 V AC. This separated the receptacle check from the appliance's failure to operate.
The recorded result
The microwave continued not to turn on after the receptacle was checked and the breaker was reset. Based on the recorded testing, the customer was advised that the microwave itself needed replacement. The job was invoiced, and no appliance repair is recorded.
What this job helps another property owner consider
When an appliance stops operating, it can be useful to have the receptacle and the appliance considered separately. In this documented example, proper voltage was present at the receptacle before and after the breaker reset, but the microwave still would not turn on. That finding does not diagnose another property, but it shows why the supply check matters before deciding what needs attention.
