The need

The project record followed an initial emergency inspection on September 21 and a follow-up inspection on September 24. It then recorded an approved panel replacement. The available evidence does not state a confirmed cause or provide equipment measurements, so this story stays with the work that was documented rather than guessing why the replacement was needed.

PTX's approach

On September 28, Steven sourced the parts for the panel swap, turned off the breaker in the electrical room and locked it out. He removed the panel cover, labelled the wires, disconnected the main feed and removed the old breakers and the panel’s internal components. He installed the new internal components and breakers, reinstalled the main feed wires, re-terminated the breaker wires and re-labelled circuits where they needed to be swapped. The main feed wires and breakers were re-torqued before the panel cover was reinstalled.

The recorded result

The panel was turned back on after the work, and the record states that it was re-energized. The lockout was removed, the electrical room was cleaned and the garbage was taken away. The evidence also lists separate remaining items involving a dishwasher and outlets under the sink and microwave cabinet. Those items are not described here as completed.

What this job helps another property owner consider

A panel replacement is a sequence of connected tasks, not just a change of the visible cover. This record shows the importance of asking whether the work includes circuit labelling, breaker re-termination, main-feed and breaker torque checks, restoration of power, and cleanup. It also shows why separate electrical items should be clearly identified rather than assumed to be part of the completed panel replacement.
